Hawk and his son Zach are hanging at the Beckerhead camp tonit and hopefully tomorrow nite as well....Got to spend a little shop b.s. time with them and headed up to make sure there was enough firewood, etc..... The stack was freaking empty, of course, so we collected a bit......Gonna be damn chilly tonight !!!!!........They are hanging so no site prep or tent issues.....Hawk has px he is gonna post when he gets back......

Zach has a new Sixteen with some very nice scales from Oregon Fal'r that the lovely Airyca brought to the gathering.....Lovely they are and feel really nice......All the work I have seen from him is first rate.......

Always good to see the Hawk and son Zach seems a fair dinkum fella for certain......Good time today!!!!!.....It will be clear tonite with a sliver moon and I plan on dragging a wee touch of an eggnog test up the hill after dinner......A clear sky, a fire, a bit of Nog, visiting Beckerheads, should be a better nite after a great day.......

Very cool boss! Hope they get tons of pics. Next time if you want me and Zack can spend some time replenishing the firewood supply.

Sounds like a good time! I wish to make it out for a gathering next year... If there is a next year ;)

That sounds like a great time, I am at the end of a two week vacation full of hunting and hiking. Did not get any camping in there like I planned, but when I would let the old dog out before bed and feel the temp I wasn't too broke up about it. It will be a brisk night for sure in a hammock, but that always makes for a nice morning getting that fire stoked and a hot mug of coffee. Almost makes me want to go sleep outside tonight...

Wish I lived close enough to hang out up on the hill... It is a great place.

Pretty cool that Hawk gets to be up there. Hope he has pics.

Only ONE?!? This simply won't do boss... They obviously haven't had enough time without their Benton. I think you should go take it so they understand just what life could be.

Glad you got to spend some time with 'em boss. What else you got going on this week? Was thinking about giving you a call this week sometime, I totally forgot to bring up PWYP last time we talked.

I will be on the road wed for the thankgiving weekend at Megan's folks........ Friday I am headed to Wallace's for a little deer hunting.......Give me a call any time.......

Absolutely. Best times had are around the campfires. Awesome of you to open up your land for a bunch of knife-loving nuts.

We did have an incrediable time out at E's place. His friendship and hospitality have no equal in my book. We would have been most grateful with just getting to enjoy the scenary. Zack was nervous when we were driving up and after about 15 minutes hanging out in the kitchen drinking some apple cider, he told me "he is awesome!" There were several more jokes that we enjoyed and the stories had him hanging on every word.

After dinner Ethan showed up with homemade shoo fly pie and egg nog and the stories and laughter continued for a couple of hours. Some great memories were made for his 16th birthday today.

As for the knife, I got Zack and Jacob (other son who unfortunately had school today so he could not make the campout) a first prod 16 this summer. Well, I found out that when Zack got home to Wisconsin, he put it up on display and refuses to use it. So I thought it only fitting to get him a "user" 16 for his 16th b-day. I put the beautiful scales made by Oregon Fal'r that I got from Airyca at the gathering to "pimp" them out a little. They look incredible and I will be ordering more for my 17.

I will tell more with the pictures.

This happened about 20 minutes after they got the fire going....

We put him through a relentless explanation of what to do and how we learned it from Doc (averageiowaguy).
