Gents,

Have a hawk and love it for hunting and back country camp craft. Looking for ideas on carrying options and sheaths. Post your pics and ideas for us all to see. Thanks a ton.

I stick it across the small of the back under my belt. Works fine and out of the way. Make sure you have a sheath for the edge. Downside is if you fall backwards and land on it across the spine.

Here's one i forged from an Estwing framing hammer. The sheath works well, lots of carry positions;

I slide it under my belt on the weak side, less chance of rattling against gun butt when walking. Or strapped to the outside of a small backpack.
Simple kydex blade mask- I think I would stick to the same style if using leather. Copper rivet holds the retaining strap on the other side.

I've heard some people talk about a shoulder holster type sheath, but have never used one or seen one. It's a little interesting to think about, has anyone used one or got pics?

OK, I'm an idiot. Can anyone tell me how to post a pic from Flickr? They changed their way of doing it and I can't figure it out. Thanks

Regards

Robin

This was the first rig I made. The belt holder didnt work out very well,didnt hang right on my belt and bunched up when I removed the Hawk.

I use mine for work. Her it is attached to my rifle plate carrier. The sheet can be worn on the belt as well.

This Sayoc Winkler Hawk is a smaller version of the original, it is a prototype. It’s the first one of its type made. I need it to be shorter at the handle because of the time I spend in and out of vehicles, plus it makes for a more versatile close curter combat weapon when used in urban operations.

It was sold to me bye Daniel Winkler himself. He makes de greatest fighting tomahawks in my opinion.
