Came home today after a week away and found a pleasant surprise waiting in my mail box, 2 ZT Grip Clips from Gavin Hawk. This is a very ingenious and well executed design for a pocket clip. Hopefully I can save some wear and tear on my pockets.

Here it is on my ZT 0551:

It fits perfectly. Thanks Gavin.

Really neat design, but what is the advantage over a typical one piece clip and why does it reduce wear and tear? There's definitely a coolness factor, but I'm trying to figure out what makes it worth the money.

By pushing down on the top of the clip you release tension on the lower portion that pinches the fabric between the knife and clip. I've got a couple pairs of jeans with shredded fabric on the edge of my knife pocket using conventional pocket clips. I'll use this one and see if its an improvement. Expect a follow-up post in a month or two.

Plus, for a knife nut, coolness does factor in. :D

These clips are going to be on the new Chris Reeves / Grant-Gavin Hawk collaberation folder. I'd like to see how functional it is. Looks like a great design.

Okay, now I see. At first it didn't look like the "churchkey" shaped portion could pivot much further into the clip to relieve tension.

This could make for some really smooth draws. My only concern would be if the design has the right balance of holding force and ease of release. I'll be looking forward to your future review.
