Ignore the knives. Love my RMJ Shrike.

Are you wanting a full steel tang, or a wooden handle? Or possibly a modular hawk?
I have the Ontario RD hawk, without the spike.

I've reshaped the handle with some 100 grit sandpaper, so it's less blocky, but that's all it needed.
The sheath is not great for fast draw, but the Hawk is tough as nails. I've thrown the $hit out of it, I mean as hard as I can, at dead spruce trees. Not a bit of damage to the Hawk, nor the micarta. And that skull crusher is a nice feature. It's a heavy sucker, but quick jabs and strikes are great as well as full force swings. Though not as heavy as the GGG Battle Hawk, which is almost a war hammer, shaped like a Hawk..

For Zombies, I'd love to have a Winkler, I just love the short spikes on his Hawks. Longer spikes could get stuck in one Zombie's head, and slow down your next attack.

The Nemisis Knives modular Hawk is interesting, just another option out there.

I'll do no such thing :p

I demand to know what the middle one is!!! It looks sweet but I can't make out the mark on my phone :)

Edit: and just so I can say that I stayed on topic, let me recommend a past swamp rat hatchet, the crash axe :D

Take a look at the Ontario Ranger RD-Hawk. Made from 1075 carbon steel, and around $100. It would make short work of any rotten brains you come across!!:D:thumbup:

I like that!! Thanks cutter I will look into that. That's right along the lines of what I'm looking for.

The middle knife is a BRT Bladeworks Mini Tac Bowie. Made by Ben Tendick, known on here as BenR.T. It's a sweet knife, and Ben is a great guy to boot. I have some more pics of it over in the Custom and Handmade Knife board.

Glad I could help. In fact I sat here looking at it, and before I knew it, I had hit the order button and have one coming to me!!

May I suggest Ben R.T. work. He is a maker on this forum. He made this spontoon tomahawk that is just amazing.

CS Spetsnaz shovel

because

#1 it can cut on either side which is handy when fighting zombies in the dark
#2 cheap
#3 use it to re-bury the corpse afterward
#4 cheap
#5 carrying one in your car won't necessarily make a police officer draw on you
#6 so cheap

Did you get a chance to destroy anything with it? I wish I had gotten the spike, once I realized that it was too heavy to be taking camping. It's not the best geometry for chopping wood, but it will beat the living crap out of a tree. I've thrown mine, often and very very hard at dead trees. I'm very impressed with how tough those RD Hawks are. The are a demolition tool for sure, and more affordable than other full tang Hawks.

I still want a Winkler, (thanks Ed for reminding me) But, I couldn't bring myself to throw one of those, they're just too nice and expensive to beat, yet I bet they could take it.

No, not had a chance to do any destruction testing.:D Yet. I was planning on going out to my land on Monday, since I'm off, and get down on some hardwood! I don't do a lot of camping now, but I believe I would take this along if I do go again. If for no other reason than to get some play time with it.:)

Actually got this because I wanted one of these type of axe/hawk to go along with my collection of fixed blades. And now that I have it, I can see where the fun could lie in it. Of course there are ALWAYS zombies to consider!;)

This is great, so many options, thanks guys!

Cutter- I've got an ontario the way.

Edwood- those two hawks are gorgeous who makes them?

You I have NEVER seen one used in any way.... I'd really love to but... Nothing yet(yet:P)
There so nice though.... And so capable.... And yet...

In other news-
Getting one of those crazy Cs shovels this week... Try to get it to take it camping this weekend :D

Be advised that it probably won't be sharp right out of the box. Some file work is required. Or bench stone, sander, etc.
