Hawkbill SF anyone?

Hey Chad...:p

1st Gen: 420J2 Blade, Short clip, no lockbar jimping, marked "Magnum Stainless, Taiwan, and CLB Design"

2nd Gen: AUS-8 Blade, Long clip, no lockbar jimping, marked "Magnum Stainless, Taiwan, and CLB Design"

3rd Gen: Same as Gen 2, with the addition of Boker Plus Logo on blade.

4th Gen: Same as Gen 3, with lockbar jimping.

That's the list I have going, not counting variants. I've only got Gens 1,3, and 4 but I recall reports of knives matching the Gen 2 description right after the blade steel upgrade.

Aloha Scott,

Are you serious? Or is someone blade-swapping to make a "Gen.4"? I just got new SF and it's still the 3rd Gen... Where'd you get the 4th Gen from? As for the Gen2, it's the SF PE I carry...however, I have never heard or seen a Gen4 SF?

God bless and mahalo bro!

There should not be a question if SUBCLAW was to be made. The right question should be when!!!:)

Mahalo mmmotorcycle and Tomso,

Right on! The more replies like this, the SUBCLAW is bound to happen! IIRC, it may be a definite industry first in terms of a subcompact hawkbill...

God bless and take care!

..... and how useful it would be. Hawkbills are quite adept at preforming utility and SD functions and I'll say again it would be nice to have one I can carry around the city without legal worries.....thanks Chad....:D

Chad, you don't even have to ask! I was thinking that it was only a matter of time that a hawkbill version came out. :)

Aloha Chad, hello you all

Nice to be there too.

Of course, I'll run to get a SUBCOM F with a Hawkbill blade shape.
Would it be the Hawkcom ?
We could also enjoy a real Clip Point blade (the ClipCom) on the folder.

However, I hope that BOKER will keep on developing the Chad's line of designs. not ony by modifying the shape of the SUBCOM F's blade. but also by making new models such as the TRANCE.

The SUBCOM Fixed BLade could also stand for modifications.

Do I need to mention that the SUBCOM line  is my favorite line of 2006!!!

take care,

Bob

Would it sell??? Does a bear sh............never mind...of course it would sell...big time and then some!!!!Zip:D

Don't get to this forum very often. AS an owner of the other variants I would love a hawkbill. However, I have one thought as to the name. Since all the others are ---COMs why not a name like HAWKCOM or CLAWCOM?

Whatever the name I want a couple.

I want one as long as there will be a PE version. Would you disclose any hints about the two other variants you said you were working on?

Good point, I'm also interested on the other two variants. We're running out of blade shapes here, all I can think of is a recurve (that'll look interesting), clip point, sheepsfoot, tanto (really not sure), or trailing point.

Or, it could be something completely new, like the Rescom!

I think we should get this very straight, because further down the road collectors might lose track of the sequence of events:

1st gen: as you said

2nd gen: My 2nd gen SF does NOT have the "Taiwan" inscription, and it does not say "Magnum stainless", it says "Magnum Aus 8" & "CLB design" period. I got it on subscription from a major German dealer, so I am quite sure it must be one of the very first 2nd generation ones.

3rd and 4th gen: you say "same as gen. 2" - are you sure they say "Magnum Stainless"? - I don't remember, I keep giving them away as presents, but I don't own one presently, only have gens. 1 and 2.

Other SF inscription details:
Wharcom: Aus 8, CLB design, Böker Plus logo; with lockbar jimping
Rescue: ditto
SF black: ditto
N.B. no "Taiwan" marking on any of my variant SFs.

The FB of course reads: Böker Plus logo, CLB design, 440C Made in USA

would you like to see a Hawkbilled SF make it into the Boker Plus line? Already got a name for it: SUBCLAW.

Guess I will give that one a miss. The only sensible use I have for hawkbills is for pruning and other plant artwork.

I would definitely buy one. Anything that has come out of the Subcom family has been a hit.

So, DW, what's the scoop on this one????

Will we "sink the tip and let 'er rip" soon? :D
