It's not bad enough I found myself completely fascinated with making knives in the last year or so, but now I have the bug to do some different things. I had an old saw blade @ almost.025" and harder than the hinges of hell, so I made a 'Hawk and just finished a kitchen Cleaver for the wife.

I am a completely self-taught nOOb, working with a #10 can gas forge, an electronic etching machine I built and a 1x30 Harbor Freight grinder. The grinder is being back-shelved for a Northridge Tool 2x72 3-phase, and a larger forge is in the works. Most of my pieces are made with old files and a few with 01 steel. Handles are all over the map including 550-cord, leather, brass, micarta, 1911 pistol grips and antler. I think the learning curve is the most fun.

I have been extremely surprised in the number of people who participate in knife-making / blacksmithing that I never knew about. Definitely an addicting way to spend time and expend some pent up creativity.

This forum is new to me, but the value I see here in the brain-trust is already overwhelming. Thanks in advance for the tutoring :-)
