  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Hawks still a viable weapon of war

Yeah I think it’s safe to say that a tomahawk for a modern soldier is just a pain in the butt. Or back. Or side. Or wherever they may try to strap a long stick to themselves at. Lol

A more convenient and effective weapon would be a less awkward to carry pistol. Or just a combat knife. Or more magazines for their assault rifle. Or another couple grenades. Basically anything at all would be more useful to carry than a tomahawk lol

Despite everything I've said here about Hawks/Hatchets being impractical as a weapon on the modern battlefield, I will say as a grunt I do carry a Winkler hatchet in my pack but more as a general utility tool than with the thought of ever using it as a weapon.

I’d 100% believe this to be true. Useful tool? Absolutely.

Even then I’d guess you’re in the minority. What would you say?

Absolutely, who the hell wants to carry an extra 1-2 pounds of weight when they don't have to? Our kits are heavy enough as is, add medium/heavy machine guns and ammo on top of that and you can see why dudes try to save weight while they can. It's hard enough ensuring dudes are packing out their issued folding shovels let alone a hatchet.

I always like this scene, the hawk appears quick and decisive 😇 and the last line is pretty funny

One of my daughters surprised me with an axe throwing time her along with her husband and his father and my wife’s brother, turns out I have a knack for throwing axes. The place supplied Estwing axes the larger models and they stick with authority.
