Can someone tell me what the difference will be in the new Merlin (besides steel and handle material) and the Harpy? I mean is there a difference in the blade geometry?
Jack - the geometry is the same. The Harpy blade is 3mm thick. The Merlin blade is 2.5 mm thick. The new Harpy is also available in G-10, very nice grip when when, better that the original stainless version. The Harpy is tip down, the Merlin is tip up reversible (left/right). The Harpy cost more money.

Jack, You may want to check with Phil Asebedo (Kuroineko2@aol.com) he was selling a Merlin a while back that was NIB for a great price....I don't think he sold it. This was a discontinued item that is coming back.
I have bought a few knives off of Phil and he is an excellent person to deal with. As a matter of fact I bought his Harpy off of him. It's a great knife, especially if you have to open annoying blister packs and regular packaging a lot.
Good luck!
