Hawksbill ineffective SD carry in the winter?

My thoughts are that the Matriarch would not be a good SD carry in the winter, in a part of the country where people must wear thick clothing. The heavy clothing would not only protect against cuts, but catch the tip of the knife, possibly leading to one losing the knife. Any thoughts or people's experience here?

If you keep your matriarch factory sharp as a defencive blade should be, and you have practiced cutting, their is no way in hell that a coat is going to stand up to that knife.

I almost took the sleeve off of a wool trenchcoat with a slight slash of a civilan. LAST time I practiced cutting drills near a coat rack!!!

That is a fine defencive blade and as long as you don't dull it on utility tasks it is not going to be troubled by a coat.

you may need a little more follow through, but its going to hit flesh and rend it, coat or no coat.

If not for the wave, I'd be carrying a civilan as a primary.

As it stands now, I use it as a backup.
