Well, here it is. The landing zone for the 6 reviews and some comments.

OLJ should be first to post up his review and impressions.

I am going to do this in steps, because I cant get more than an hour or two at a time. WARNING... I am no wordsmith, or photographer, but I will try to make it acceptable.

My initial impressions out of the package were that this blade is much lighter than I imagined. The micarta scales add alot of comfort in my paws.
I went ahead and stropped it a little before heading out to the garage to pound on it.

I did some cross battoning with some basswood pieces. It popped right through with just a few whacks...
The modified tip is the full stock width (3/16" I think) instead of a tapered swedge. It didnt chew up my batton at all, and it looked damn cool.

Next I went head first into a 7" piece of basswood!

Not an issue!

Last thing for the night, I wanted to try some shavings with some very hard red oak, it acts like a much smaller blade. I was very impressed with how nimble it was!

My next installment will be chopping, chopping, and more chopping!

Chopping is for sure this blades specialty. I am running out of wood to play with, and had to make due with what I could find...

Here is some hard as nails red oak.

One chop!

3 whacks to get all the way through this poplar.

And my biggest challenge (I thought) was this ancient hickory axe handle. One smack and it broke in half!

I am about done with my "review", I just need to gather and write down my thoughts, and post my "Badass" picture for the contest portion of this passaround.

Nice I cant wait to try it. I am using some of that hard red oak for my cabin and it is a bugger to work with.

Good job, brother Josh. Now, is it just me or is anyone else noticing that parkerized coating is NOT showing much wear?

Stuff is hard. Plus, I found out, you actually "charge" the phosphate finish with some kinda oil, and its pretty much good to go.

Moose, can I request for the mods/ specs of the knife in your original post? Some of us are late comers :P

There is about 4mm missing on the overall height of the blade, convexed edge, and the tip was clipped but not swedged.

Wrapping this up now. (busy holiday weekend). following are a few notes that I wrote down while testing the blade.

Initial impressions...

The micarta has very good traction, and good looks. I am sold on it!
As received the edge grind has a slightly "rougher" finish than I am used to. If it were mine, it would be treated to an edge polish.
The clip on the point sets this knife apart in looks and it is just fantastistic!

User thoughts;

The knife is way lighter and more "nimble" than I imagined. At no point did it feel like I was hefting a 9" blade.
It chops right up there with the best of them!
It batons with authority.
It makes an excellent drawknife.
The coating wears hard, I was not easy on this blade, but the finish held up perfectly.
The edge retention was good, I stropped after each use only. (no stones)

I appreciate the opportunity, and look forward to the other testers opinions.

I have had it 7 days (per the rules) but the P.O. was closed today, it will go out first thing in the am.

Here is my attempt at a "tough guy" pose.

Handmade buckskin pants, moccasins, and a handmade wool anorak. Wetterlings axe, hand-held fire, and a bad-mother of a BK-9!

Tough-guy fail, when I burned my hand! LMAO

OLJ good review and tests. I'm intrigued by the wool anorak and I like the honesty of the last pic of burning yourself.

Thanks for the comments.
My buddy made it for me out of a surplus blanket. it is basically a wool "hoodie" I wear it all the time while hunting, because it breathes well, and is warm even if its damp.

There isnt much about me that is "tough-guy", it's not easy to fake it! LOL

it will be heading your way first thing tomorrow, i will PM you your tracking info.

Good review and great pics. I liked the tough guy pic too. Someone better top barehanded fire holdin'. :D

I shipped it this morning, (Priority, delivery confirmation, insured). Murph should have it by Thursday. Thanks again for the chance to play with it!

Got the beast in today! Josh, damn fine job on the edge work. I hope when I send it out I've done at least half as good of a job with the edge that you have. Initial impression, I really like the non-swedge full width clip. This thing just flat out feels ready in your hand.
