I have no idea how I made that attachment or how to remove it now... don't see editing options for it.

Sorry,

Yeah but I'm still thinking Moose might call it a draw and keep it:D

The weather here is awesome too so there's plenty of time for getting out too, Thanks!

Eli

The sheath work on that is nice, GS! If there's ever a reason for me to be in AZ, I'm going to seek out someone to go hike the Superstition with me.

We had absolutely crap weather for the short time it was up in the frozen tundra.

I dont have it yet, i'm sure it will get here soon.

All thats left is for Haze to tell us who gets the blade.

Moose

who modded that BK9?

removing that swedge made for a MUCH more aggressive looking blade

WANT!!

Haze, he's posted on this page (above) and I'll look for the original thread but most of the pics/info are in this thread anyways.

Haze sure did a heck of a job. Its a very nimble blade, and I was very impressed by how well the finish held up with all of the bashing we did.

Ah, so you're going to leave that all to me, cheers mate !

I'll drop you line over the weekend and we can see what's what.

Thanks to all that took part and enjoyed the knife, You will hear from us soon..... <<< see what I did there Moose, old boy ?

Do you guys think the strength of the tip is affected much by this mod? I really like the look of this.

Yes, it will be, but what you lose in strength you gain in piercing ability. That said I didn't find the tip to be weak at all in my tests. If you stab it into a log and crank it to one side I would expect it to snap but why would you be doing that any way. I found the tip was much better for things like drilling as well as piercing softer materials over the original and that is the sort of stuff I was aiming at with this mod.

Yeah, but it's badass looking and the flat top swedge/lack of, allows better batoning. I'll mod mine similar for sure.

Pick me, pick me! :D

I'm not convinced the tip would break, unless you did some serious prying. That's still a big, thick piece of metal. Maybe not as durable, relatively speaking, compared to the original, but clip points have been around a while, and people have pried with them without breaking them. I've even seen 440A blades with a good HT and a clip point survive some good prying without breaking.

I'm thinking the same way. Having the full thickness of the blade still available at the top, I'd be surprised if it broke. Besides that, it made for an incredible batoning surface. If you intend to use a BK9 for splitting wood and not carrying a hatchet or axe, this would be a great mod to do to the 9.

All of the reviewers did a great job. Thanks again to Haze, and Moose for the chance to play with this blade. Good luck to everyone in the running!

Man! the wait is killing me:D
Just posting to say "Are we there yet"?

Eli

Sorry guys, but me and Haze both have been in the weeds, and are just now getting back. We'll get ya'll sorted out shortly. Haze should be getting up soon, so, shouldn't be long.
