My girlfriend watches this show on HBO Max every week called Euphoria. I won't go into the show, as it's definitely geared towards a young adult audience and is pretty controversial. I was watching it with her and noticed what appears to be a Jake Hoback Kwaiback Fixed used as a murder weapon prop by one of the characters, so I snapped a picture.

I stole a picture from Knifecenter to show the comparison:
Edit- nevermind, it doesn't want to let me link it. I don't want to get in trouble for deal spotting or something, so you can just Google it and get plenty of results.

Just thought it was cool to see such a high end knife getting some spotlight on one of the most popular shows in the country, right now.

I was wondering what knife that was! Thanks for the identification.

Euphoria is amazing, one of the most accurate portrayals of opioid addiction I have ever seen on any media, TV or otherwise. And just great at balancing funny and tense moments. Jesus, the second to last episode that focused fully on Rue being discovered, that was HARD.

I was extremely skeptical at first, but I will watch most of the things my girl wants to watch just for the sake of quality time together. It looked at first like a shallow, albeit well made show about young women being promiscuous and drug abuse. I ended up liking it a lot more than I thought I would. Season 2 brought the needed dose of reality that evened out the story telling and countered the glamorous portrayal of destructive behavior that was prominent in season 1.

I was very skeptical too, as shows very rarely accurately portray addiction, I was actually ready to dislike it, was sure it would be some BS full of misinformation. This one, hits it out of the park, but you are right, it must be balanced out by some of the harsher moments in the second season. There's also two 1hr specials, in case you/your girl may be interested one for Rue and one for Jules and the Rue one is just a long talk in a coffee shop with Ali. Hard to execute "conversation/monologue episodes" well, and this, and Bojack Horseman's "Free Churro" are ones to do it right!
They must have a knife fan on crew, too :)

Not really sure, but having your name associated with a knife that is in the spotlight and portrayed as a murder weapon probably isn't the best thing that could happen...

100% The writers just found a knife that looks cool with fake blood on it…the handle has two “Blood Grooves!”
I am just realizing that this is like, a $600 knife! Wow! Thought they would pick some M-Tech. If we didn't have to worry about Hollyweird legislating anything stabby, I think the Yojumbo would have made a great movie prop 😁 Imagine how nice that could be, picking out the truly most wicked looking knife you can, without fear of public reactional stuff.

That was the biggest thing that turned me off of that silly cheap mall ninja site BudK (Check it out for a huge laugh) back around the time I was juuust getting my first Opinel and Ontario knives, learning what makes a good knife... "Blood Grooves!" It shows fundamental lack of respect to the customer, that they don't think I know what a fuller is. That and deploying a "tactical dagger" to have the liner immediately skip to the other side and have the blade limply and ineffectually "chop" down on my finger.

I actually think it's the complete opposite. If they just wanted a cool looking knife, whoever choose the prop would not have opted for a very limited, $300+ custom design by a known and respected maker in the enthusiast community. Somebody that works on the show is definitely into the hobby, or it would have been a cheap, nameless prop.

Or, its a knife that somebody just happened to have when they needed one.....that happens a lot apparently.

Ya, who knows? Nice find.

Yea, I think there may a knife nut in the prop department. HBO shows have done this a few times (not to mention they are the best at making these types of shows). I remember spotting a BM Seibert Vicar in the show "Outsider" and in Westworld there was a knife roll containing the BM Seibert Arvensis, Nestucca, and in the most recent season I think there was a Presidio. Not on the level of a custom, but notable nonetheless.

Looks like it's just a cheap Chinese prop knife now ;)

Disagree. This is solid gold when looking for an example of the false narrative the knife maker created to sell his knives.

The customers who bought into the lies and then bought his knives are suddenly left holding the bag when the truth is revealed.
Good take.

Eh, I didn't want a $400 pocket razor anyways, my answer to that is always "The Yojumbo exists". But after reading that thread and some other research, no way will I buy Hoback. Same as I won't buy a Burger or a Medford.

Still a dope show.
