HDFK: Random Impressions

Just wondering! Those who state that the NASK / HDFK is smaller than imagined, kindly elaborate as to how? Not a rhetorical question, but the stats were stated as:

OAL = 11.8"
BL = 6.5"
Cutting surface ~ 6" as we knew that there was a choil

Are you perhaps referring to the blade hight of ~ 1.5"?

Perhaps more "svelte" than thought as opposed to small? IMHO no way this knife is slender either, but then again I don't have a comparable BUSSE / Kin to compare it with
but I know that it is not as hefty as a FBF Camp Knife (weighs 1 oz less) and it is slightly shorter by about 0.25" ish? That CK is also taller (1.75"?) so it will cover the HDFK
if placed on top of it. The real test is to which overshadows the other? 91bravo 91bravo or Gusbuster Gusbuster the floor is all yours Buds ;)
 
Who called Gus? I’m trying to get some sleep around here. :D No seriously I’m at work. This is the only comp pic I have with the FBF Camp knife for now.

I think the Camp is a little longer and a little taller. The HDFK feels awesome in hand though.:thumbsup:;)

I'm not really sure how it works, logically yes you are right, the specs should indicate it's size. For some reason, knives are almost never the size I think they will be based on photos online. Even when I try to also form a mental picture by looking at the specs and using a measuring tape, the overall knife never comes as I expect, either they are smaller or larger. Maybe I am using the wrong terms, maybe like you said, svelte is more appropriate.

For example, my old busse Axe hammer had almost the same specs more or less but to me was just a larger knife. I don't know how that works, or how to explain it but I never claimed that my brain worked normally either ;)

The HDFK handle feels fuller and larger than the FB camp knife. More contoured with a greater palm swell on the HDFK handles as well.

That was immediately noticeable from the photo which Gus had posted a few posts back.

Yeah it definitely feels fuller. In fact after I put my HDFK in my Camp knife leather sheath for a few minutes, my Camp Knife just slides out with no retention. That’s OK because I like it more for the HDFK anyway.;)
