I like the princeton tec apex,and apex pro.I prefer the pro because of its light weight,but both are great lights,and both have several modes.
The pro uses 2-123 battteries,and the apex uses 4aa batteries.Either can use alkaline,lithium,or rechargable batteries.The run time for the apex 4aa with lithium or rechargables is about 4.5 hours.the run time for the pro is about 2 hours on surefire 123 batteries.
My son also prefers the regular apex also.We have found that the new rechargable eneloop ,or duraloop rechargable batteries are perfect for this light,and our midland radios.X2 except I prefer the standard apex. You can find AA everywhere.
