Headed off to the Fire Department..

Rob, you have a hell of a lot more chance getting in than I do of publishing a book, really, not even in the same ball park, but I do want to caution you that firefighting today is a very competitive field. MY real neat Brother in Law was not able to make it. Not trying to rain on your parade- just a caution.

After all that I gotta tell you my gut thinks you'll get in too, though.

no precipitation felt munk;) :D It is very competitive. I hope to know by early next week at any rate.

I'd hire you, but I don't have a business. I have manufactured several babies, but you couldn't help me with that, and besides, I'm content with the old fashioned tools we have here without CNC machinery.

It was a great career for my father in law.

He quit high school to join the army and they made him a fireman and sent his ass to Viet Nam. He hangs out there for a year getting pissy drunk on warm beer (he says thats all there was to drink, pallets and pallets of it) and messing around with cool weapons and local women. Only was in danger once, and it was his woman chasing him down the street with a knife.

Comes home and gets the fireman gig in Miami. 30 yrs later...50 yrs old...retired (55k/yr todo nada) and sloffing around my shop for at least 6 weeks every summer. If it weren't for the winters he'd move in.

I'm envious. My job is boring.

I believe you will get published. the reason I'm so sure? Because you're doing it for the right reasons, and with a good heart that's in the right place, and if I know you, you've asked that it be allowed from higher up the right way. What could stand in the way of that?

Not to shabby!! Sounds like a very nice retirement:thumbup:

My first real job was as a volunteer firefighter in Howard County, MD. It was the most rewarding and valuable (in terms of life experience) job I ever had. We're pulling for you, Rob.
