Have fun at the show :)
I'm looking forward to the pictures of what you see there ... and what came home with you. :)

It's in the 80's today in Florida and it just seems so odd to see snow. .Please post pics of inside of the show as I imagine it's a good sized venue. I have not been to one for years and the last time I went to one there was very few knives of any kind.

My bad, gun show was at the greyhound event center. Spitting distance from Buck and Cabelas. No good Bucks to be found. I did come across this western hatchet and knife set. I don't know anything about Western but they were bought at a good price. Saved enough to buy Sig .1911 .45 Compact at Cabelas. My 3 boys have been after me to camp bed roll style hiked up in the mtns above 20180224_201740.jpg priest lake. I'm willing but want to be packing enough firepower for bears.
Good times this weekend.

^we only have what i call large raccoons down here. florida black bears. they are tiny compared to what y'all have. i still carry a 10mm with hard cast. never had any bear issues...they usually move along on their own. i carry more for hogs. i dont think .45 acp is enough firepower even for our little bears. ive seen hogs shot with .45 acp that keep going for quite awhile. granted not perfect placement shots but under pressure not easy to get a perfect shot.

if all i had was .45acp in a 1911 id want the full 5" barrel...not an officer or sub/short barrel version.

guess any gun is better than none when ya need it.

Western made some great knives for a very long time , I think you will be very happy with them and I know you will be happy with sig . I carry one every day can can attest to the accuracy.

Mak, that is the 'Black Beauty' and how I wish Buck made a hatchet like that. I would buy it. I see that set at my larger show but not often.
I think that could cover a lot of ground out camping and remain portable. Have a great time out with your boys. DM

Big bore hunting medicine! .454 Casull Super Redhawk and 10mm Glock 40 MOS. I'm adding a Glock 29 10mm soon as I can find one in stock. Much easier to carry hiking in a chest rig than either of these cannons!

Very nice. I've got both the 3" and the 5" S&W model 610 revolvers and the G29 is one I used to use for my winter time CC. The G40 is high on my list of "buy soon" guns.

In for pictures of the new sheath for the knife/hatchet combo. I am sure this will be an interesting creation!

The 10 mm Glock with full power ammo is about the very best choice for any dangerous situation in the woods...I have a Gen 4 35 in 40 SW and feel very safe.

Federal and state government wildlife people who had qualified with pistols in the Bear shooting course ( yes there was a course) could carry a pistol during work. Most carried 44/45LCs. Many pilots had pistols. One aspect of the training was shooting a target the size of the inside of a tire as it rolled down hill. Even a ten yards it was hard. The 10mm autos are a recent invention so I never heard of one used, but they should be more comfortable to carry. Another aspect was getting ammo, lots of places in AK had 44/45LC but not so much of other big calibers, since you paid for ammo yourself cost was a issue also. Hand size had to be considered also. Some carried rifles, usually big bores (300 mag and up) and for folks that did little hunting and weren't exactly gun loving, Mossberg 500 12ga with slugs were provided, the positive side of this weapon it could shoot non-lethal rubber bullets to drive off bears just nosing around. Pistols and some rifles were purchased by the carrier. Several stories have been told over and over of someone leaving a research camp or just going outside of a cabin to get firewood having to burn gunpowder, either to scare or kill. Over history a couple of bears and moose won. Real Alaskans worry about moose as much as bears. Bulls are dangerous during runt and all moose can have a crazy phase during the coldest winter temps. I had a friend that fought off a cow moose with ski poles...walking with his family near his house. Never went again without firepower.......300
