as much as i hate leaving town on holiday weekends, this is really the only weekend out of the summer that we can get away... my older son is a summer long theatre program, that takes up just about or whole summer.. it's a great production, but a huge commitment at the same time, for both the parents and kids....:o

anyhow, we're heading out to MAMMOTH mountain/lakes for the weekend.. a good friend of ours is a teacher, and he spends his summers at a condo he owns in mammoth.. he has been trying to get us there for years...
we leave tommorow afternoon after the misses gets out of work and we won't be back until monday sometime.... i'm soooo stoked.. i haven't been to mammoth in years, and my wife and kids have never been there... the place is amazing.. it reminds me a lot of colorado.. we'll be doing a bunch of fishing, hiking and bow shooting... there is a ton of killer mtn. biking there, but i don't know if i'll be able to take my bike..:( i might have to rent a fatty full suspension...

here's a nice shot of mammoth lake, where we'll be doing some fishing and canoeing... i hope it's not too crowded..

sounds like a nice trip, i hope you have fun.

why wouldn't you bring your bike? no top or rear rack for it? this might be the perfect excuse to get one...;)

it might fit under the luggage in the back, its not too big is it?

it should be a lot of fun.. i'll definately take a ton of pics...

as for the bike... i don't have any sort of rack for it... and i don't think it'll fit in the back.. a few years back i downsized in cars and went from an SUV to a small RAV4... the cargo space in the back is pretty limited..:thumbdn: as much as i would love to go and buy a rack or something, i don't feel like hearing the reprocussions...:o

At least renting one will be in the cards bro! Have fun, its beautifull up there. Take lots of pics, and enjoy yourself man....

I get to work 36hrs straight this weekend, 24 on sat, and 12 on sun:mad:
So I wont be goin nowhere.....

transporting my road bike can be a real hassle, but if you take off the two tires, it really cuts down on the space you need. measure it out to see if it fits, it would be worth the five minutes work to be able to have your own bike there.

once i was riding someone else's bike (note; not from a renter or dealer or anything) and didn't inspect it too closely before i got on. ended up in the hospital overnight with a fear of a punctured liver...that has turned me off of using other people's gear when i can help it.

anyways, can't wait to hear back on the trip...don't forget to bring some big knives to play with...you never know when the chance pops up!

Awesome, I love Mammoth. it's crowded, but worth it. Have fun, take a pic or two ;)

That sounds like a GREAT weekend, Mike!

I'll be thinkin' about the great times you'll be having...enjoy it with your family.

I'll be here...where EVERYTHING is mostly "tan" this time of year...even the air!

Sounds like a blast! Have fun!

I sure hope it isn't too crowded for you guys though. I was considering heading to Wishon over the weekend, but it usually gets too busy on holiday weekends. With any luck though, you guys are sure to have a great time. Gotta love the Sierra Nevada's!
