Just waiting to hear word if my team is heading down south to help with hurricane evac work. Will know by 10am. We are pritty self sufficiant with our gear, but I'll be taking my mini kit just in case. A little funny moment when my boss said no knives or guns(and stared at me when he said it :grumpy:), but a Leatherman was ok. Funny how outdoorsmen are preceived by the rest of the world. I didn't plan on taking a gun... knife yes, but gun no. Not real excited about leaving the kids for 10 days, but the work is needed and the pay would help alot. Will let ya know how things went if I go.

What the heck organization are you with that says no knives? I have several co-workers who got deployed with different organizations (armed forces, federal gov't, local groups) and typically knives are part of the required equipment as condition of deployment! Man, that is too bad.

Oh, and good luck man! Hope you get to go if that is what you want/need. I was hoping my Dept. would send a crew (and that I would get chosen) again this go round but so far nothing. Thanks for doing what you do.

Good luck and stay safe.

I'd shove a few knives down my shorts if I were you;)

Not that I don't want to meet you, but I hope you don't have to come to Houston. Things are looking better for us and worse for Corpus.

Just an update. We are now traveling thru Kentucky heading to Baton Rouge. Hoping to get there by 9pm. I'm with the PA Region 4 EMS Strike Team. Our proposed mission is to replenish the hospitals with patients who were evac'd during Hanah, but that might change if the cane moves further north. We our a multi EMS service group. My service has a policy about no "weapons" on the trucks and as reps for our service we still have to abid by the rules. The Leather man will do me fine. Plus I have my Delica too which they don't mind either. Thanks guys. Later.

Another update. We were scrambled to LaFayette, LA for a search and Rescue mission yesterday morning. Got here to find that there is nothing for us to do. Been waiting since last night to see if we are being sent back to PA. Might not know till tomorrow. Feel like I'm in the military. Ever hear the term "hurry up and wait"? Thats just what we have been doing. At least we didn't have to treat/rescue anyone for their sake, but sure sux sitting here being bored. I don't know how you southern boys handle this heat. Miss the hills and mountains too. It's so flat here. LOL. Later guys.
