thanks to you for the heads up on the sale. I took this opportunity to order myself after seeing those prices. Again, thanks for the notice. I've been on the fence for another Commander until I saw the prices you posted.

I too have been lurking here. Just wanted to get brought up to speed on the discussions prior to posting. I have found that the discussions are very informative and have learned quite abit already.

If you follow some of the horror stories regardign Botach and figured your time at minimum wage (with no aggrevation factor) i question whether or not these good deals are so good.

You are correct. I should not have even considered taking the easy way "in". More than anything, it was meant more in jest, than in seriousness. Had I known about Botach's sale, then yes of course I would have made that notification.

I look at this as a learning experience. I learned where the term, "Usual Suspect" originated, thank you.

Yes, I do frequent this forum often, to learn.
No, I don't write many posts, remembering I am learning and as you pointed out, "...it is one thing to meet the requirements and another to be recognized by the group as a "Usual Suspect" just as a new cop must gain the respect of the others before being accepted by the veterans." It seems you have a law enforcement background so you should understand,

Yes, I do have an enthusiasm for Emerson products. I have a '98 CQC7 and a '99 Commander. Three more are on the way.

In an attempt to make up for my short comings, I already went to Botach to see what items were in stock. As of May 3, 2001, not too much. Approximately, 100 knives, in the most popular configurations:
-Commander, blk handles, blk combo blade
-CQC7, same
-Mini CQC7, blk handles, satin spearpoint

Now, if you would like for me to go in and check on your order I will do so, but as you have clearly pointed out, you are not a "Usual Suspect" and it's status is earned, not just given.

So order and buy your own!

Don't worry, no one was trying to claim credit for your notification of Botach's deal. I wonder if you will be as willing to step up if the "deal" go sour?

I was going to edit my misspelling of "Ususal" in my original post, but because I am learning, I didn't know how. I'm sorry.

However, take note, NONE of the "Usual Suspects" said / posted anything towards me. That is what makes them so cool.

Thanks. I just had a good laugh after reading the last line of your reply. That always cheers me up. I did in fact order from them, Commander BTS, because of Lone Hunters post pointing out the good prices.

I realized that your post was just in jest as was the intention of my post. I didn't have any intention of being critical of your post. you are correct, I too am in LE. I re-read the post the next day and realized that I should develop sufficent posting banter with someone first before taking the liberty of being a smarta$$ even if I do identify with your occupation.

They have been swamped with orders.Their shippments of knives come in,and they have to go through them first to see what came in.Plus people have been showing up at their door DEMANDING the Emerson knives.

I E-mailed an order yesterday,but did not get a confirmation back so I called them,thats how I learned this.Btw they did get my order for a green cqc7 with satin plain edge.Asked if I was LEO,for their discount,I said no but I'm a firefighter if that matters."Well we'll extend the discount to you too"

Seems to be like getting tickets to a hot concert when the tickets are released in batches,keep trying but theres a lot of others trying at the same time.

Even that doesn't always work. I have called to check stock, had them verify it over the phone, placed and order, and found out they didn't really have it. Twice.

I think the most annoying part is that they did not contact me to let me know they weren't going to ship it...either time. When nothing showed up after a week I called back and was told it would fill-in-the-black days before they could fill the order.

Let me also note that I have sometimes had excellent service from Botach. Every once in a while they still come up with a discount I can't ignore and I roll the dice again with another order.

The sale prices on Emersons are cheaper than the LE/Government prices, right now. You can see what the LE price is by looking to the left of the regular price. It will name the item then it will have a "G" followed by the price, for example:
Emerson Commander/G125 $149.99 sale $125

U.P.S. just rang my bell. I love the Commander. Awesome knife. HUGE! My SOCFK does lock up better however. I will be carrying the commander to work though. (actually i will probably carry both) One problem with Botach though,aside from not having items advertised in stock, they sent me the wrong color blade. I ordered satin blade, but got black. Not complaining though i am actually very happy with it in black. Overall i am fairly pleased with Botach. Can't argue with the price. I would try them again. Hope everyone else who ordered is satisfied as well.

U.P.S. just rang my bell. Love the Commander. Huge! Does not lock up as well as my SOCFK though. I will be carrying both to work. One complaint about botach, aside from not having items advertized in stock, they sent the wrong blade finish. I ordered satin but got black. Not complaining though, i really like the black. Overall i am fairly satisfied with botach. I would try them again. Hope everyone else is satisfied as well. Good luck.
