Hi high will she go?![]()
I'm okay with paying a small finder's fee (say 10%) and the cost of shipping but I can't support straight scalping. The cheapest I've seen on the exchange was $50 over the retail price. Beautiful knife and maybe one I won't end up getting my hands on.
To use or not to use... I have a hard time not using any knife I buy.Man, they are flying fast. I think I'll keep mine.![]()
Assuming no more runs of these will be done, $50 over retail or $190 could seem down right cheap a few years down the road.I'm okay with paying a small finder's fee (say 10%) and the cost of shipping but I can't support straight scalping. Seeing how it's a limited run, extremely popular, and sold out quicker than probably any PM2 in history, I'm not shocked at the prices, and wouldn't be surprised to see them going for $250 soon. There are people trying to sell sprints from years ago for $350-$375, that's more ridiculous than this awesome red (super rare in a knife, let alone for spyderco) and M390 going for what it is on the secondary right now.
Want to see ridiculous? There was a guy trying to sell a cold steel rajah 1 for $1000.

The orange g10/cts-xhp black dlc para 2 came out a couple of years ago and now commonly sells for $300 or more..
The flippers on the exchange disgust me. I know it's their right to sell it for whatever the market will bear but it's also my right to put you on /ignore.
Yea...I get getting a knife in and deciding it's not for you. But buying a knife just to flip it (or two at a discount) does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Especially with the prices I've seen them listed for. Knowing someone paid 140 for them and then charging over 200 is poor form.
Totally my opinion and totally thier right to do so. It just kind of takes away from the community aspect of things.
I used to feel this way, and I get that people still do.
But, knives are something I know about at this point, and for me personally, I'm thinking differently about it now that child support payments are cutting my income to just above subsistence. I don't know anything about investing, but I do know enough about knives to invest in them, so if I can invest a couple hundred dollars in sprint runs with a high ROI now, that means I have breathing room in my grocery budget in three months, or Christmas presents for my kids, or the ability to pay my health insurance deductible.
So I don't feel guilty about it anymore.
