In my uniform wearing days we generally got a Warning Order before we got our OPS Order. This here is y'all's WARNO. Over the weekend, I'll be sorting out, squaring away, and packing up another box of steel to send to Steve Ferguson, to be shipped whenever Steve says he's ready for 'em. Plenty of lead time, nobody gets left out, right? ;)

You rascal, you.

There are those that make things happen, those that watch things happen, and those that wonder what the hell just happened. Don't need anybody in that last category if we can help it. :D

They told you guys when you were going to ship out? They always told us after we'd shipped out.

I knew I should've joined the AF.

I'll make sure to have some funds ready when the day comes. I'm still kicking myself for missing out on those skean dhu's last time.

Uh Dave, you're talking about movement orders, I was talking in the context of operations orders. But yeah, we always pretty much knew when and where we were going. And did you know, on Air Force planes georgeous stewardesses bring you hot towels, coffee, and muffins. Anybody believes that would die of shock trying to negotiate the "monkey pisser" on a C-130. And us old guys took a bit of sadistic glee watching newbies turn pale right before they puked during a high threat landing into a hot area. That rapid descent death spiral is a lot like being flushed down a toilet. Ah, the good old days ;)

One of my favorite things is a little warm muffin from a fine stewardess.

But... I digress.

Is that what the younger fellows are calling it these days? ;) :D
I never could keep up with the youngens, not even when I was 25 myself. :( :grumpy: :o

Next batch of crude arse file knives ships to North Carolina tomorrow. Pretty good batch, this is going to be fun. Even threw in a smallish (5 1/2") dagger blade made from a file. Yup, just a blade, figured some do-it-yourselfer might enjoy coming up with his or her own handle. It's got a stick tang left long, so it would be a cinch to do a stacked washer or composite stye handle. Or, just bore a hole in a stick of antler/wood and epoxy the tang in. Cross guard? No worries, I'll throw in a cast brass double quillon that can be made to fit with a bit of filing. Yessir, this is going to be fun :)

Sounds awesome Sarge. Can't wait to see the offerings.

This seems a bit essoteric to me... Are you saying the U.S Army preparing for some kind of invasion? :o

Did you just hear a "swoosh"? Thought so, that's the sound something makes when it goes right over your head.

I'm sending Steve Ferguson a box of my home made knives. Steve will be selling those knives over in the exchange forum here; http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=748
Proceeds from the sale of those knives will be going to help augment a fine young man's medical school expenses. My purpose in posting this thread is to let folks have some advance notice so they won't miss out on the fun.

Picking up what I'm laying down now?

B...

I'm Southern and was raised Catholic.... What is muffin safety??? 9 mos??? Swoosh.....

LOL.

muffin safety is when you keep an eye on things and take stuff out of the heat before they burn ;) then you can butter the buns if you like.

LOL.

But to get back on topic. Can't wait to hear more from Steve.

Grime, if it seems that I've stepped on your toes, you need a bit of insight into my background. Retired senior noncom, OIF, OEF, Desert Storm, and other stuff before that. I've had troops, who by the nature of the questions they asked, indicated to me that they hadn't been paying attention. Not paying attention can compromise missions and get the wrong people killed, so it's a sure way to bring out my "salty side". Nothing personal, just force of habit.

A mysterious brown box went out this afternoon, should be at Steve's Thursday or Friday at latest. There's one in there with bone handle scales and a brass buttplate that Steve'll probably glom onto, but he rightly gets first pick of the litter.;)
