Heads Up

A mysterious brown box went out this afternoon, should be at Steve's Thursday or Friday at latest. There's one in there with bone handle scales and a brass buttplate that Steve'll probably glom onto, but he rightly gets first pick of the litter.;)

Don't worry pardner, the one you'll probably want has a curly maple handle and a long pointy blade. . . . . . .Bwahahaaaaa. . . . .oops, I forgot, Steve likes dirks and ballock knives and such, sorry. :D

Dang. I agree. Tease. Sweet agony this is.

I just have one of Sarge's knives from the last sale and definitely am in for more! But the way Sarge is describing them, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve wants to buy them all.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm amazed at how productive you are with these, that is for someone who isn't a knifemaker!

Norm

P.S. Guys, sorry, but I just wrote to Steve and agreed to take the whole lot off his hands sight unseen, so there's no point in you checking the Exchange now as it would just be a waste of time. I'll post pics when I get them. Maybe next time?

;)

Did you just hear a "swoosh"? Thought so, that's the sound something makes when it goes right over your head.

I'm sending Steve Ferguson a box of my home made knives. Steve will be selling those knives over in the exchange forum here; http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=-1&f=748
Proceeds from the sale of those knives will be going to help augment a fine young man's medical school expenses. My purpose in posting this thread is to let folks have some advance notice so they won't miss out on the fun.

Picking up what I'm laying down now?

Sarge

Ah I see. Thanks

I got one of those infamous pink colored slips in my mailbox Wednesday saying that I had parcels to pick up at the Post Office. :) My work is in the opposite direction of the PO, so if I can get off work early today, I'll pick them up, otherwise it will be tomorrow morning. Soon now, real soon.:D

Steve

We're not supposed to post links to items for sale in The Exchange. So I won't. But if we could, I would.:)

Holy smokes!!! Those blades went quick. I didn't even have time to snatch one up. Maybe next time...............Malcolm

Y'all are assuming there'll be a next time, I might have other plans. Thing about a hobby is, if you've got other stuff to do, it can cook off in a dark corner dang near indefinitely until you come back to it. Promised myself when I retired from the military after 26 years, to take a year and a day to do whatever the heck I wanted to. But, when that year is up (September), I'll be starting on the rest of my life.

Sarge

Indeed. I decided that when I missed out on the sale of those knives that if I wanted one that, say looked like #5, that I could darn well figure out how to make one that looked like #5. Sarge, I may need to ask you some questions in the near future, or after you get back from that fishing expedition. I hope you won't get too aggravated with me.

Very well said.

Ah, Malcolm, while it's a sure thing that there will be more Ram fundraisers, Sarge hasn't been responsible for them all. You and me, we might just have to learn to grind our own knives...

I'd not heard of your year-and-a-day commitment before, Sarge. Hope things have clarified in your mind since September last, and best wishes for the next chapters.

Tom, the fundraisers are all Steve Ferguson's doing, and you wouldn't believe all the knives guys have donated. Mine were just a drop in the bucket, but a good drop in a good bucket.

The year and a day thing? Just my way of giving myself some time to wind down and acclimate to a different life style. 26 years of doing anything will get you "wired" a certain way, find yourself going through a bit culture shock if you try to shift gears without pushing in the clutch and lettin' her coast a while.;)
