Health report for 8/29/04

The cosmos makes no mistakes, Bill, and what is in your karma will prevail. Plus, you have an advantage......you've already lived a fuller, more adventurous, exciting and rich life than 90% of others out there, so, and I know you are already aware of this, you are a very lucky man and most people would give a great deal to be able to say that as many people love them, as love you. Best wishes, thoughts and smoke from Boise.

John

Peace be and continue with you.

There's something special to me about those who've lived life, been mangled or crushed by it, and get back up and go humbly on their way in spite of everything. They are good at being accepting and understanding, at listening and really hearing what is said.

You've been one of those people for me and there's something in you or about you* I want to find for or in myself. ( *And Pala and Yangdu . )

You remind me of the conflict over whether is it better to do whatever needs to be done right the first time, or better to do it poorly but learn from it how to do better the next time.

Imagine a spiral staircase going up inside the Empire State building, with a window to look out of at every landing. With the exact same steps leading upward to each next floor. I may be on the 17th floor and you on the 87th but we are continuing to walk the same path, and the view out the window is the same but from a constantly changing perspective.

Enough hogwash out of me. I'm hoping that the next time I'm up in Reno unencumbered by family, you'll be up to meeting me again.

There's nothing to say after what Rusty said...unless it's, "Stop giving away all your guns and stay away from high windows!"

The Texas School Book Repository in Dallas is a different subject, Munk.

bill i have watched and helped 2 persons with your cancer type. my dad and my father in law.
they both opted to have only the radiation treatment. and my dad lasted 4 times what they predicted, father inlaw 3 times, so as i think and a lot of others to, its the quality of life not the length. live out the remainder of what is left to you doing what you want to do, and with those you love at home.
if luck is with you and it is meant to be you may have a long time. all the best ken :)

Sorry, munk - you mention high windows (plus) guns in the same sentence and Dallas 1963 pops into my mind. Solemn high whimsey, is all. I'm off, to return refreshed when Lewis Carrol makes perfect* sense.

* relatively perfect, of course!

Bill, even as I write, my prayers are with you. Keep on fighting. That's what you are, and a very fine example for all of us. :) :)

Bill: I have not met you, but in dealing with HI and the very excellent service they give I feel I can tell you are a man of very high moral standards. I know that you will use that trait to fight the good fight against you illness. You will be in my family's thoughts and prayers.

Be well
Mike and family

With surgery omitted as an option this leaves radiation, chemotherapy, percutaneous ethanol injection and a couple of others. At present I'm leaning toward radiation but may change my mind before actual treatment begins.

Does "percutaneous ethanol injection" mean a potential solution to this malady is more Heineken? :)

Many thanks for fine support, all, and a special thanks to those from the medical community who took the time and went to the effort of offering valued advice.

But, the prayers help more than anything. They make travelling the road, no matter how many twists, turns, potholes, much easier.

Berk, thank Dororthy for great motto.

Since my heart attack and bypass surgery I've made a concerted effort to get things organized so that Himalayan Imports will continue on when I am no longer here. Pala has done the same in Nepal with BirGorkha. And I've done a pretty decent job and so has Pala. HI is going to survive long after me and BirGorkha will survive long after Pala. That's important in more ways than one. The people we provide work and social services for will continue to receive both items. And, the dharma I set in motion will continue which is like money in a Buddhist CD. I continue to collect the interest no matter here or there. Gives me a certain amount of peace.

But it ain't over 'till it's over so I'm going to continue right on until it's time to toss in the towel and I'm a hardhead so I may be around longer than any of us think. But good Boy Scout that I am I'm prepared for any eventuality.

Thanks again for fine support.

Thank you, Uncle Bill.
I hope this place continues down the path you set in motion a long time ago, and you continue to guide it even from the day you leave.

at least they didn't give you an expiration date when you went in!;)

We love you, Uncle Bill, and we're glad to have whatever time you have left to share.

Sincerely.

I would fancy myself quite the philosopher if I could expound on a fraction of the wisdom displayed here. But I'm not and I can't, so Uncle Bill, I'll just add my wishes that you have the best time you can for as long as you can.

Tom

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I appreciate your attitude and strength.
