Hear Ye, Hear YO. When you want to buy something I've offered in the exchange, you MUST post in the thread from now on without exception. Case Point;
I have sales running right now for CONUS buyers only. A lurker, a MEMBER without the ability to PM me, emailed me. He offered to buy and I accepted. Then the truth came out in the details. Paypal showed the funds sent from mainland China. Paypal showed the buyers shipping address as a POBox in Oklahoma. I finally came to my senses and elected to return the funds before I very potentionally got bit, (read; a huge credit card co. reverts funds from MY bank, after the fact, due to "items not as described") hard. Leaving PayPal and me out, period.
You all are not going to find out who the lurker was because he didn't post in my thread.
PM me all you want, questions, more photos, no problem.
No more PM or email sales.
You want it, you post it or you don't get it.

Mod's you may want to make a sticky of sorts, as this is the latest scam in vogue.

Many folks outside the US use a US based company to accept and re-send packages from US based people who will not sell outside ConUS.

Then buyers who use such services should say so when responding to a listing, above board, in the thread and not deceive folks with aliases and burn phone email accounts..

I wouldn't have any problem at all with such a sale as long as I receive accurate and true information and funds that cannot be snatched back from my bank, IE: A USPS money order, redeemed for hard cash.

After quite a search on the net I learned this scam is very popular among thieves. There just isn't a whole lot the seller can do about it, if the scam gets pulled on them.

Besides that, the buyer in my case responded to a CONUS sale, knowing he was not in CONUS and only through viewing the transaction details at PayPal, did I learn the truth.

After talking with officials at PayPal, they advised me not to complete the transaction, as it had all the makings for the scam.

So posting a PM in a sales thread will somehow negate potential theft?

In a word NO!

I stated "No more PM or email sales." I think I made it quite clear as to my stand on the issue.

No back room, out of sight sales.

Business conducted, above board, out in the open.

That sounds fair enough, and should be listed accordingly within sales threads across the board IMO.

your knives, your sales method, do as you wish, I have done a lot of transactions with people never posting in the thread, I don't see how you can get burned if you have the right tracking info and shipping reciept but like i said your knives , do it your way.

conus ?
what is conus

i'm in the Netherlands, and if you don't want to ship non conus,
you can just send it to my company address in Texas !

but this not conus according to you, or you just don't want to sell to foreigners, please state that than

your totally in your right to sell to whom ever you like, and to what conditions

i would be more afraid to sell to conus...
on the first few pages in this thread i see very little non conus scammer , the majority are US scammers

i agree with you to the fact , that people must be active on a fora before they can buy

kind regards, Martin

PayPal sales, PayPal rules.

If you sell to someone with a PayPal address outside the US, your product must ship to that address.
If the buyer lives outside the US but lists his US re-mailer as his PayPal address, you're OK.

If the buyer tells PayPal "items not as described" then he has to return them to get a PayPal refund.

orork brings up a very good point. Transactions should be up front, on line, and both parties should agree on all the details before anyone sends money or product. Surprises are a deal-breaker. Post this as a standard paragraph in every sales ad.

I always put that the first "I'll take it" in thread gets the item.
If I do get a email, or PM first I tell them to go post an "I'll take it" in the thread before someone else does.

Also, if they don't post in the thread you can't leave feedback.
