Heard a Rumor: 3" blades okay on planes???

I heard a "rumor" handguns and small rifles will be allowed too as long as the round is less then 3cm in length:p I was "told" the overall length will be calculated based on the brass and bullet (i.e. unfired bullet and casing).

Happy new year!

I had to have fun with this seeing how there are at least three threads addressing this issue:D

Check out the Kershaw TwoCan. I'll let you know the result of my $20 experiment when one arrives (I fly every week).

Not going to cut it! It would fall under the category of a multi-tool with a knife. You are free to throw away your $20 if you want. I advise you stick with the small rifle and 3cm round:eek:

The 2 blades are Wharncliff style blades, With the main blade opening on it's own to provide a useable knife, Once the second blade is open the knife forms a pair of spring scissors...

Remember that swiss-tek key thingy? I wonder if that qualifies....

I tend to check a bag just so I can take a manicure set and pocket knife. I think in the future I just ship them to the hotel where I'm staying and ship them back...I don't like the unlocked-bag deal for searching, and I'd rather not check anything anyway.

I also wonder why SAK or someone doesn't partner with the TSA to create an agreed-upon personal tool. Would contain scissors, a short edge, a few screwdrivers, etc. I've got to believe a reasonable compromise can be reached.

Anyway, the funniest part of all this is all the folks who I work with who were mortified at the relaxing of the rules. They all think they're going to be attacked with nail clippers and scissors.

Bruce Schneier has it right - exactly two good things came out of 9/11: Reinforced cockpit doors, and passengers who know what they could be up against.
