So I own this custom folder from Chuck Gedraitis which I absolutely love:

It's heat colored titanium.

I also own this Benchmade 750 which I often use as a knock around knife on the farm.

I was wondering if I could simply take it apart, break out the torch and play it across the titanium slabs and get a similar effect? Any danger of changing the properties or performance of the material? I don't want to ruin a perfectly good knife just to be decorative.

Thanks for any advice.

I don't see any major issues. Keep the flame away from the screw holes just to be safe....

I also have one of Chuck's heat colored folders. I love mine too!
I've talked with him about how he gets the effect he does, a lot of experimenting and practice. You won't hurt the titanium but you probably won't get the same effect on your first try. I would get in touch with him to see if he can do it for you.

watch the lock bar as when you heat it it might detune(just have to rebend while hot but can be tricky to get right )
