Heat Shrink Tubing and Paracord?

Hi,

Has anyone tried binding the ends of paracord ( butt to butt) together
with heat shrink tubing?

It's not a bad way to make a quick release cord for a neck knife. IIRC, Kit Carson does it that way.

But how well can you reconnect it?

I suppose it's a very good and cheap one-time-use-only quick release, but I can't see it being good for multiple uses.

Of course, for an unobtrusive safety for anything that goes around the neck, it's not a bad idea at all.
