Heat Treat farce

Tru-Grit is a good business

What I see is a company that promoted and facilitated a particular heat treater for years, and then once issues became too brutal to explain away, they scrambled to distance themselves, leaving those who trusted their recommendation in the wind.

What percentage of the problem do you put on Jeff Mutz?

I don't know why you are asking me something like that D DevinT . I just learned about this situation through this thread, and a little extra reading online. It would be silly for me to "put" anything on anyone except what seems to be indisputable from the evidence. Tru-Grit promoted Jeff Mutz for years, and facilitated his heat treating business. Jeff Mutz increasingly failed to provide the service people expected. Tru-Grit formally washed their hands of him and the customers they led to him. I think for anyone to answer the math question you asked me we would need to wait for:

Tru-Grit [] to [] explain[] their side.

You admit that you are ignorant of the situation and found your information online but are very outspoken on the subject.

You and Stacy are slandering Tru-Grit so be careful.

Slander is provably false assertions, Hoss, which neither Stacy nor I have made. Let it go.

I do not have first hand knowledge, but others have given first hand accounts and their experiences are similar. There are enough of them to establish a pattern that deserves to be discussed publicly, and Stacy's proposed method of doing so is reasonable. He is clearly not comfortable to send people to a business that has manifestly led people astray and then left them to fend for themselves, and don't fault him for expressing it. He has also left the door open to the possibility that this is not actually an accurate portrayal of the situation (by being open to hearing their side of the story).

Let it go, I suggested that already.

I am not saying let the topic of the thread go, because I think it serves the community to warn makers of business practices that can lead customers astray and then leave them hanging without recourse, as well as to encourage better practices from business who have done so. I was saying let go the notion that discussing the experiences people have relayed on this amounts to slander (it doesn't).

I've read the thread. I see no slander.
Time for all parties to take two steps back from the keyboard and take two deep breaths...then go read a different thread.
