Heat treat for liners?

I am using .050 304 stainless for liners. I am curious if i need to heat treat the liners before installing or should it have enough temper to hold the spring for the liner lock? Any information would be helpful.

304 SS does'nt have good spring quality.almost none..,so you'd be better off using 400 series steel.304 cant be heatreated.

You do have to heat treat to get the spring action, otherwise it will just bend back. Like above you will need a different type of stainless for the liner to make the lock work.
