Hello, I am in need of a recipe to heat treat ATS34. I normally have my knives heat treated and cryoed for me in Texas, but have found a new company in Omaha Nebraska that I want to try. (They are only 30 miles from me so turnaround time would be much less) I just want to be sure that the process followed by them will yield the correct hardness. (58-59 Rc.) I am not able to use the search tool or I would look myself. Thanks in advance!

The HT for ATS-34 is the same as for 154CM . I think most use 1950 F for 30 minutes.
Will that heat treater use salts or wrap in foil or use vacuum or inert gas ? Quench in oil or air . I doubt he'd use plate quenching. Will he use cryo ?

I just got off the phone with him again. He is going to use vacuum, air quench I believe, and can freeze down to -120. I am going to go visit with him today and see what we can do. He does have a Rockwell tester so it might require some testing to get suitable results. I will try to keep you posted.
