Could someone give me an estimate on maybe a per hour cost of running a kf 18 or kf 22 on 220?

Is it ridiculous?

Thinking about noting the bullet on one but not completely sure yet.

I would be doing mostly simple steels but would like the ability to maybe use stainless from time to time, with simple steels, just soaking at quench temp, and doing a few knives a month, is it going to make a huge difference in my bill?

It really depends on what your electric company charges per kw. You could calculate the approx 3600 watts the kiln is capable of using by what your electric company charges per kw. Figure out what that would cost you an approx to run per hr. I seriously doubt it's that much. Maybe a few dollars per day if you ran it all day long. With what you describe on doing in a month I doubt you'll see much of a difference.

.28 cents an hour at 9 cents per kilowatt hour. Probably less since it's not drawing full amperage the entire time it's on.

My oven which is around 4000w costs about a quarter to heat treat a bade. And I let my oven set at temp for at least 30min. Once it's at temp it takes very little power to keep it there.

Costs me 50 cents or so to run an hour and a half heat treatment cycle of CPM 154
