heat treat oven

I was just thinking of the money, there is about 150 buck difference in the updated controller from the mfg versus the aftermarket controller from auberins, it will do the same thing. Of course it might void the warranty but not much to go wrong on an oven. Just a thought.

Atakach,
Sorry I didn't see this sooner, I have the big one and like it alot. I got the upgraded controller, works fine. The only downside I see is that because of the interior volume, it takes a while to get to temp. Not enough of an issue in my mind, but it might be to some folks. It takes about an hour and a half to get to temp doing cpm154. Again, this isn't a big deal to me. I have had no problems with mine, nothing but good to say about it. I think the guy builds each one to order, because I had to wait a bit also. Good luck.......Rick

Is your oven 110 or 220? An hour and a half to reach 1900+ in a 220 oven doesn't sound appetizing to me.

1 1/2 hours??? what temp you going to? Is this even close to the same with the evenheat or paragon ?

thanks for the heads up

Atakach,
It might be a little less, 1.25 maybe? I haven't sat there counting minutes, I stay busy in the shop doiing things as I'm waiting. I can't compare it to the other ovens as I have only owned this one. I notice it gets to 1600 real fast, then the last 300ish takes a while. Before I bought it, I had seen other threads that said it took awhile. Again, there is a lot of interior volume to heat up. The price difference between the sugar creek and the others was enough that if they are faster to ramp up, I'm not caring. The extra dollar difference can be well spent on other shop stuff, and there is always something to work on while I'm waiting.

Agreed, and the fast heat up to 1600, sounds good as i only work with simpiler carbon steel, as apposed to the stainless steels that require those higher temps. thanks again

I notice the same thing! mine is at 1300 with in a matter of minutes.since i replaced my element mine will get to 1935 in about 45 minutes!

She burnt out!! after about a year or so.i'm pretty sure i caused this by propping the coor open a little to cool it quicker.sue explained because of what we do,lots of contamination can occur and cause a break in the element.

Needless to say.i called them up and they sent me out another completely free and did'nt even ask about warranty.they're good folks!

I'll agree to what Swafford said 100%, may make this slow heat up time worth it for me. That and the cheaper price.
