Heat treat question

When you are heat treating stainless do you put the knife in the oven cold and heat them together or do you get it up to temp, put the knife in, wait till it gets back to the target temp and then start your timer/countdown?

I am new and just asked the same question recently. I preheat the oven to 1400 for 30 then put the knife in for another 10-15. Then ramp to your temp.

Correct. the blade packets should be placed in an oven that is at least 1200°F.
