I need to get some A2 glass breakers heat treated and need a wholesale source for Ferrocerium Rod 5/16 and 1/4 approx. 50 pieces.
Thanks
Coop

Texas Knife Supply or Peters Heat Treating for the A2. Use Peters if you've got a lot of pieces.
eBay for ferro rods.

You can easily find a lot of stuff using the search function on this site or google...

Thanks I have 50 glass breakers so I will try peters...I found info overload on the fire rods...
Greatly appreciate it

EMail Marshall at Goinggear.com as well, their ferro rods are the best ones I've used, and he might sell you a bulk amount. Worth a shot.

What kind of quality do you want in the ferro rods?
The ones you see at goinggear.com and similar sites will cost a bit more than most of bulk stuff off of eBay but will also look better. The super cheap ones on eBay will have some dings and chipped ends and sometimes have more noticeable extrusion marks. They'll basically look like you put a bunch of them in a bag and shook them. Sometimes they will also be a tiny bit off on size. In my experience they all work the same unless you go with Light My Fire.

The quality I meant is that they throw molten globs of metal that burn longer than a spark. That said even sparks work pretty good. But I've got ferro rods from several different places, and gg's are the ones I carry.
Though this is a subjective thing, who knows, maybe the barometric pressure and amount of kittens per square mile was different the day I compared them, but that was my observation. Realistically, it could have been the knife (spine) I used. Either way it's worth a comparison for pricing, nothing to lose.

Did you get just the rods from LMF or were they complete with handles?

My personal preference is the LMF over everything else and it would be cool to get just the rods as I make and sell micarta handled rods.

The quality I meant is that they throw molten globs of metal that burn longer than a spark.
What I meant to ask was what kind of aesthetic quality knifecoop was looking for.

I ended up getting just the blank rods..I went with the 3/8 x 2 5/8 on the length. They are really clean with no chips...which is what I was looking for since I am going to be threading them.

I had not thought of threading them, I was considering just grinding two flats, drilling and pinning/tubing for mine.
