Heat treat Rwl 34 ?

Could the guys who heat treat their own RWL 34 tell me if it is treated the same as ATS 34,if not whats your fave recipe, im'e useing an Evenheat oven with foil and quenching with aluminum plates. Thanks in advance guys.:thumbup:

I love that steel. I presume it is very similar to ATS34, I HT at 1050 C (1920F) and soak 45 mins, than cooled between Al plates. As I don't have cryo equipment I shoot for the lower austenization temps to reduce the retained austenite. I would prefer to austenize at 1100 C if I had LN option.

Temper 2 X 2 about 345 - 430 F...

RWL-34 is a powder steel so it's performance is like CPM154. The HT for 154CM, CPM154, ATS-34 and RWL-34 is the same.
There is a high temperature tempering option which some use , 900-950 F. This should eliminate RA for those who don't have cryo. Emre's lower austenitizing temperature is the other way to deal with RA.
They're all fine steels especially the powder versions.
 
Thanks guys just as i thought.Interesting about the lower austenitizing temp,i think i will give it a try,i presume you get the same hardness out of the quench?
