I posted a little while back that I was going to cut a few knives on a CNC http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=459921. The problem is that I do not have the equipment to heat treat them, nor any spare time to expiriment (that will occur this summer). I was wondering if there are any smiths out there who are currently working with 01 and would be willing to heat treat my two knives for me. I would be willing in return to CNC cut something as my payment. I would like to help someone out as much as they are helping me. Please respond or PM me if you are interested. Thank you very much.

If you are using O1, then anyone with a forge or oven can help you, including moi!!:D couple of comments. I would make the clip a bit longer and on the small knife, i would make the spine the same thickness as the tang and not step it down. That could create a potential stress riser

Thanks for the advice, I was thinking that the clip on the big one did look a little blunt. I am going to finish them with a ball nose endmill, so I just didn't bother drawing in the fillets. I was tempted to try and heat treat them in my garage with a simple charcol forge, but I am too afraid to put all this time into them and warp them or crack them. Maybe I'll try it on the little one and see how it goes.

michaelmcgo, you are only in G.R. I normally have issues with doing other folks HT because of my schedule, most folks woudn't want to wait on me to get to it, but your location and the advantage of having a CNC favor I could call on gives me pause...

Send me an e-mail about what your desires are for the HT.
