I came across a bit of O-2 (1 3/8"x8" or so) in the tailgating at this weekend's hammer-in and I'm wondering if anybody has some HT info on it. I know it has loads of Mn and should etch black as midnight in some damascus, but I want to make sure it gets paired appropriately with steel I mix it with. I also want to make sure I get the HT right on the resulting billet.

Thanks in advance for any info!

O-2 -- .95 C, 1.60 Mn, .25 Si, and optional .2 Cr, .15 V, .30 Mo -- HT - 1400-1475 F [don't overheat ! ], Forging 1800 - 1925 F, Annealing - 1375-1425 F

A better question would be, where did you get O2? And, are you willing to let go of some(nudge, nudge, hint, hint, say no more, know what I mean?)?

:)

There is/was a guy selling some O2 on ebay a few weeks back. I bought about 30 pounds myself. :D

I actually cleaned out most of his big stuff last year. It didnt really look like he restocked.

so the bobcat will be here thursday to remove the big stuff i cant move by hand (punch press and such) and dig the hole for the hammer footing. I hope to have the site ready for Tige to deliver this weekend. Later I'll get a big machine here to move the other hammers over.

Cooool...is it going out back in the "new hot shop" then?
