Heat Treating 440C

dont know where you got your steel, but almost every supplier will furnish h/t specs with the steel upon request......to do it right is no easy task.....its not about just making the steel harder than it is when you get it.....presoak stress relief, cryo, and draw cycles plus the harding all need very exacting temps and soak times.....good luck!

Hey Kevin
Try http://www.knives.com/frameset.html
then click on techon the top, then Engnath on the side. Good sight for the beginer, lots of info to be found if you search there for it. Most tech info is good but, as they say different strokes..... If you have access to the expensive toys by all means play to your hearts content.
I still have copies of Engnath in my shop note book and go back to them regulairly and compare with other tech info. Modify adapt thats the different strokes.
By the way whats a REFORMER doing east of the Peg.
