Heat treating a hunting knife

Someone please tell me how I would heat treat a hunting knife. I made it out of o1, so I know it gets quenched in oild, but I've heard that you should leave the blade pretty hard, but also brittle, because hunting knives won't be put through much shock, but need to keep their edge. Also, is the order: grind bevel, heat treat, final sharpen?

What type of equipment do you have for the heat treat?

I would recommend you send your blade out to someone that does heat treating. The investment can be quite large to do it right and compared to the cost of having a few knives heat treated for you is MUCH cheeper.
