The AKS information for this steel is:
Heat Treating Information:
Preheat: Heat to 1,560° and equalize.
1,940°F Austenitize: Ramp to 1,940°F and hold at temperature for 15 minutes. Oil or plate or air quench as quickly as possible.

1,975°F Austenitize: Ramp to 1,975°F and hold at temperature for 5 minutes. Oil or plate or air quench as quickly as possible.

Cryogenic Treating: To get the most from AEB-L you must cryo. Cool to -95 °F. No soak is required.

Temper: Temper immediately after hardeneing or cryo. Temper at least 2 times for two hours each time. Use the table below to achieve desired hardness.

Does preheat mean to put the blade in a cold oven until the oven reaches 1560? I'm not sure if "equalize" means to hold for a time.
I am planning on Austinizing at 1995 and plate quenching in the foil, removing from foil, cryo treating in dry ice bath, then tempering. Does this sound viable?

Here's the info I got from Chuck of AKS on HT'ing AEB-L a while back and seems to work pretty good.
*******************
Set oven for 1,995°, when it reaches temperature put blades in the oven. Then set the oven for 1,975° and soak the blades for about 15 minutes. Quench and go into cryo/sub zero.
***************

Note the oven is set at 1995ºF, then dropped to 1975ºF - I understood that was so when putting blade in oven the temp would not drop so far below desired setpoint. My understanding is the Sub Zero is the -95ºF from Dry Ice while cryo is the liquid nitrogen.

Here's a link to DevinT's (Hoss) method of HT'ing AEB-L: http://goo.gl/Inh8C7

Hoss recently posted a slightly more complex recipe. You should do a search for it.

I think that's what the link Ken posted points too. Since i don't have a hardness tester, nor 2 ovens. I will do some testing with when Ken posted. Although I'm not sure why this isn't what AKS has on their site, since that is what he got directly from Chuck at AKS.

Kevin - Hoss gives the info for HT'ing with a single oven in the thread I linked to above - you have to dig thru it a bit to find the info. I've not tried Hoss's double quench yet, but it should be good. I sure wish all steel manuf's gave detailed HT inft like Sandvik does.
