Hello all, I am a relatively new knife maker and I'm looking for someone in the Detroit area who can heat treat a stainless steels like Elmax Vanax and CPM-4V. I am aware of Peter's Heat Treating and Texas knifemaker's Heat treating. But I would like to form a good working relationship with one treater who is nearby me. This may be a stretch but I figure this is the best place to start! Thanks guys.:)

Additionally I could really use some help for a good CPM 4v recipe at around 60-61 HRC, does anyone know one or can refer me to where I can get answers?

Most makers use one of the specific knife HT companies. Peter's HT, True-Grit, Paul Bos., JT Knives, etc.
Just Stick the blade ( wrap it in newspaper) in a shipping box and send it off.

These people know how to HT knives and do it well.

I reccomend Peter's. I use them with exellent results.
Personally I use 62 HRC on CPM 4V. Still tough and awesome edge holding.
It shines above 60HRC.
