Im starting to get into making knives out of old files, just grinding out the shapes, and i was wondering, do i have to heat treat them? I know i know, its probably a stupid question, but i dont know much about the process, I do know that heat treating controls the hardness of the knife. Is a file too hard and brittle to not heat treat? if so, can i possibly make my own heat treating oven..?
