Heat Treating Oven issues

I am in the US here in Ca. So I assume the yellow is + and the red is -.
You can never "assume", since the TC came from China, they have different color codes there for TC wire. Do the ice water test, then put in pot of boiling water to see around 212F. Yes, lead the TC wire away from the brick to the outside. The burnt looks like it got too hot.

This is true especially when your dealing with sensitive electrical equipment. Since there is no "gasket" between the TC and the brick I am sure, with these temperatures, it's leaking around it. I have since rerouted the wires to the outside of the Kaowool.

I read on here the magnetic wire of the TC is positive or can that be different with K type TC's?

I used deck screws to hold the TC in place but have since removed the TC. That brick is so soft it's kind of a one and done thing. I was thinking of mortarring in some steel rivet nuts into the brick. Good or bad idea?

I'm not sure I'd even bother with screws. A slip fit should be plenty to keep it in place. I built my oven as well, and the TC I use just rests in a hole that I drilled out slightly larger than the TC. Never had any issues.

Good to know. I was just thinking of keeping all that high heat from escaping. I'll pack some Kaowool behind it to keep it in place.
