Anybody thinking of getting new HT oven? I am thinking of becoming a distributer for Paragon . Right now just seeing if there is any interest . Guess I'll need to update my membership if I go through with it.

Please PM me if you are interested. Can't discuss prices right now.

Please don't lock this Sparkie

Sorry guys if you took offence to this. But cut me a little slack were talking about a fairly large investment. I can't start out small and buy a few hundred dollars of wood. Were talking thousands of dollars of merchandise. That has to be paid up front.

Thanks for the understanding
Jim

Jim, considering the investment, and the fact that there are already plenty of Paragon dealers out there, unless you feel like there's some specific way you can offer a highly competitive price or some other service, I have to ask; Why bother?

If the ovens were really hard to get a hold of like some quench media, then I'd understand the "gauging of interest", but in this case, I can't.

Maybe if you had some ideas on custom configurations like USAKnifemaker is doing, or something else?

Seriously, I can't even believe you said that seeing is your only a registered user and not a moderator!

I'm eventually going to need another one. Their longest unit (40" I think).

Don't they do threads around here for "forum knives" where they talk about buying things that no member actually has in their possession? Hmmm, me thinks so.

Thanks for the support guys!
RSKT I've been talking back and forth with them for a while before and after Blade. I spoke quite a bit with Todd S. the president of the company. He told me they will build any size you want. He said they once built one about 10" X 6" X 8'.
In a recent post about the size needed someone was asking about a 10" x 10" x 10" it was stated that would be too small for anything but pocket knives. And if the blade was too close to the heating element it would over heat. I find this unlikely in the Paragon because the thermal coupling is in between two of the coils and protrudes about an inch from the wall. So over heating should not be a problem. I will be discussing this with Arnold their tech rep. If he has not already done tests we will. It should be fairly straight forward, before they had digital controllers they used ceramic cones to tell the tempiptuare. And a device called a cone setter that would turn the kiln off when the cone slumped. These cones come in different tempiture ranges. By setting let's say 1500° cones in different locations we can check for cold spots also mix in some higher cones to check for hot spots.

What is their longest standard unit? Is it 36" or 40"? I'm sure they can make them any size. Ideally I'd want one 42", but 40" will do. How many units do you have to buy to get dealer status? If your prices are fantastic, I might be good for a 5x5x18" as well. I've been toying with setting up a second shop to allow me to work at my moms. Would make it much easier to visit for extended periods.

Yeah, that would work. You can PM me or send me an email with a ballpark price.
