Nice. Just keep going, your skill with the tools you have will improve. And you'll figure out ways to get additional tools you need/want along the way. The best thing you can invest in is a good mentor, they are hard to come by I know. Even a half assed one is ok. I like your execution of that karambit...looks natural.
 
RaiderJameson that's a strange blade shape. What's it for?
Mainly as a skinner. I envisioned it as a work knife but got a little carried away with the hammer. The pictures arent that clear but the blade it about 5.5 inches, i thought it looked cool with that dis in on the spine toward the tip. It turned out balanced really nice. I sharpened it to shaving sharp then cut a pine 2x4 in half with it. Brought it back inside and sliced a peice of paper in half. Real good edge retention.... so to answer your question i wanted a work knife and decided to do an original shape for the first one.
