Anyone know at what temperature epoxy that has set will start to soften again? I don't need to take a handle off or anything, just trying to figure out in what order to do some steps in a new thing I'm trying. :)

And no, I'm not epoxying the handle on prior to drawing temper on the blade.

I have soffened epoxy in the oven to remove handle scailes when I was trying to save all the componets.
Some of the glues loostened at 170F others were still fast at neer 400F

Reference for heat distortion temp and glass transition temp.

note that West System epoxy should not be used in an environment over 230 F as a structural adhesive.

each epoxy should specify it's structural limits, which is why household oriented epoxies are a toss-up for any critical use

Yup, it really depends on the adhesive. Heck, some don't change significantly short of temps that would be tempering the steel, or beyond.

Thanks, guys, that helps. I'll check the labeling on mine.

Y'all mind sharing the brands that held their strength at high temps?
