Hi

I need to know something about heattreating in a gasforge. For my forging I use a horisontal gasforge powered by two T - rex burners.

I have used this gasforge for heattreating but have found it to inaccurate. And I am now planning on building a Donn Fogg style gaspowered heattreating forge.

Does any of you have any good advice ?

Here is one of of my blades .....

Using a muffle will help a lot. It is a piece of heavy walled pipe that the blade sits in. This greatly evens out the heat. Hot spots on the blade ( usually at the tip) are the number one problem with open forge HT.
The other thing that can make a gas forge work better for HT is adding PID control.
