The blades were 1/4 inch thick, we ground a generous amount to steel off before finishing them, I doubt that we were short of carbon. (This was years before Rex joined us) but you could see the large grain size in the fractures of the destroyed blades.
I am all set up for the argon, but have not used it to date.
We followed the text book anneal for 52100E, My memory may be off, but a starting heat of 2,000 is what sticks in my mind.
Maybe one day I will find my old note books and know for sure, but the temp was what the text book called for.
