"heaviest Kukri on the market"

Does it come with a companion to help carry it? Don't think I can handle one of those by myself.

That'd make a nice karda fer me HI Falcatta!

Hey, we all know the CS guys never sensationalize...

I wonder what mkt Lynn Thompson's Referring to?

Might have to shoot them an email...point them over to the HI store...

Wow! Must be the extra mass of the custom filled cho that drives that weight way up there. Imagine the hand craftsmanship of the spray painted blade and the rubber grip...

Keith...what were those recent lightweight Khuks here? 4 and a half pounds?

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

You probably want a knife in exchange for it Bruise...

I'll have to weigh my Super Salyan "Fat Man". It's got a 3/4 inch spine. Oh, and notice the Cold Stee's massive 5/16ths spine? HI's wittle bitty 12"ers are a minimum or at least 3/8ths thick.

Consider the source -- a firm that has created its reputation out of whole cloth -- a triumph of advertising over reality.

Imagine the looks of the poor folks who fall for that nonsense when they find out the truth. If they then look further, they find out that their first world wonder doesn't perform as well either. And for dessert, it cost a whole lot more.

Thankyou UB, AY, and HI :D

I actually like the shape of their LTC. I have never bought one, but from reading I can't see how it would chop well being so thin. They'd be better off making them half as long and twice as wide.

even though i dont have one, i would consider the 20" ang at 3/4" thick to be the perfect sized heavy chopper... its short enough that it doesnt get to unweildy, but so heavy that it doesnt need the extra length... of course, id be perfectly happy with a 3/4" thick 30" ang  ... but i doubt thats gonna happen :(

"The Gurkha Kukri will out-chop any factory or handmade knives, including swords twice its size - even expensive, hand forged Japanese Katanas. "

yup. them wood working katana's... man was i dissapointed with their performance splitting wood...

I have and LTC that I've owned for years now. It is one of my few knives I've named. It is called "The Biter" as it used to bite me every time I used the dayumed thing!!!!
It definitely has its place and is really great in some applications, but it's more a bent machete than a khukuri.
But a machete with the kukri shape has lots of benefits being weight forward as it is.:D

I kept one of these in my bug out bag till i actully had to use it at 17000 feet in febuary . it got tossed fast , piece of junk

I agree with Yvsa... it's not a bad tool, it's just misnamed. But "Gurka Kukri" probably sells better than "bent machete" in those glossy ad campaigns.

Edit: My 20" Shop 1 AK is almost five pounds.

Depends on which model.

The CS gurkee kurkee is 3/8 and shaped sort of like an M43. The others are thin spined.

Raghorn, you and I got here about the same time yet you have three times the khuks I do. You have a YCS- I don't. I've looked like hell for a true heavy chopper- you probably have one by your bowl of cornflakes every morning.

Life is strange. I see Nasty is hot on your heels to aquire the most blades in the shortest time.

I'll just have to live with envy. It's not too bad.

Tell me- do you use the heavy chopper for de-limbing, or the lighter blades? I have a 20 Villager that's 2.5 lbs or so. I've watched the specials for a long while- and I still think HI blades have gotten ligher than they used to be.

im never gonna get on of those... :(

Anyone here tried the AUS8 Blackjack "Reinhardt Combat Kukri" made by the original BJ back in the early-mid 90"s?

Nasty will pass me soon, munk. My UBBB sharking days are few and far between now. I'm working towards developing my own kami skills now.

Seth - the AK I mentioned just happened to pop up one day on the FS forum and I was lucky enough to be there when it did. I bought it from a guy who doesn't inhabit the cantina. Keep your eyes open, there's more out there, you never know what will pop up or when.
