I love the thickness and weight of nepalese kukri and thier pakastani and indian knockoffs
but all of them have that hindu symbol on them
i dont want that on my weapon but the western kukri seem to always be light and thin
anyone know which western one is the biggest and heaviest on the market?
It's hard to find the specs on some knife websites

The reintroduced Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri in 3v is going to be 5/16", but it also looks like it will be $500+ street price. Fox makes one a hair under 1/4", KaBar's is a hair under 3/16". The Kabar Reinhart is 3/16ish. Ontario list theirs at 1/4". Condor is 1/4ish.

If you wanted a real thick one, I'd talk to the Nepalese guys and ask them for a Ang Khola with no cho, I bet most would do it as a custom order.

Kailash Blades Kailash Blades will make anything you want in their exelent 5160 steel.

EDIT: It will be nepalese though! 🤣

Unless you are extremely strong , a light to medium kukri is better for a weapon .

Heavy is too slow .
Turn out, flesh is not as hard as wood, and blade is more about cutting so the weapon one are lighter. Speed is strength.

This is a funny but also real suggestion:
Zombie Tools. They make some edgy designs just like their name, but they are actual work tools. They have a kukri at 6.5mm thick (about 0.25") in 5160 and fit your description.

You can order a Nepalese-made kukri from Kailash Blades Kailash Blades , and ask them to leave to cho off, or get a modern design like the Scourge that has the cho reconfigured as a bottle opener. Check out their website, and their sub-forum here on BF.
Bingo was going to say this after reading the first post also.

I am fairly strong.
It would be more of a trainer blade
think of training in 14 -16 ounce gloves then fighting in 10-12 ounce gloves same idea
Also it builds muscles in more unique ways than weight and rubber cables, I have used a hand axe and two hand ax for such purposes
I also wanted to use a 5 pound one handed sledge but the hardware store only sold two pounders

I was thinking k bar and condor and bud k timber wolf
the big Honshu kukri has been reported to have broken easily which sucks it looked big

Thanks for all the great ideas, you people really know your stuff.
Has anyone trained with the giant water buffalo beheading kukri ? How do they feel to train with?

K-Bar is a serious brand but man, you should absolutely ditch BudK, Timberwolf, all of that stuff. I bought some stuff there that immediately failed, it's a tossup, they make some fun stuff for sure, I have a 6" stiletto that can wave from them, but I would not press it into serious use. It all will break easily, they advertise steels such as 2cr cast, and they're just a bunch of cheap Chinese crap. You were being all prideful about the symbols on your knife earlier, these things are the ultimate disrespect, epecially the ridiculous tacky patriotic Chinese-made stuff. That stuff's ironic as hell. But, I digress. It'll break, fly off and could injure you, I wouldn't mess with it.

try looking for a vintage Mason’s hammer. They look like giant meat tenderizers and can be very heavy. Originally used to treat stone surfaces.

Ok, I play. Check out the Himalayan Imports sub-forum. They are know for their well made, often heavy, knives. I have one that is 46” long, weighs 6.5 lbs and is as much as 1” thick at the spine. They make human sized ones as well. Just let them know what you need.

What? I'm just saying, BudK is terrible, unreliable stuff. Not sure what that has to do with Cold Steel. I know/like 'em. I like their stuff made in Taiwan or Japan. They're tough knives.
